This CD gathers the music composed by me for the silent short film À propos de Nice by the French director Jean Vigo, considered by many as one of the greatest masters of cinema. The documentary offers an unconventional portrait of Nice, where the description of the life of the tourist resort, the bourgeois Nice, is juxtaposed with the popular "counterpart".

Given the film's duration - 25 minutes - I decided to create two different soundtracks. The first one is acoustic in nature and arises from the suggestion of the images, often balancing between documentary language and experimentalism. These compositions were recorded in 2004 with the collaboration of a sextet of musician friends. The second soundtrack is electronic and seeks to build a different relationship with the images. I created it by recovering pieces composed between 1985 and 2002, which were then cut, manipulated, assembled, and remixed for the occasion.

This work, which began in 2003 commissioned by the Rimusicazioni Film Festival in Bolzano - an international competition dedicated to the composition of new soundtracks for silent cinema - has never been distributed, as it was conceived as a gift for the participants.

Questo CD raccoglie le musiche da me composte per il cortometraggio muto À propos de Nice del regista francese Jean Vigo, da molti considerato uno dei massimi maestri del cinema. Il documentario offre un ritratto non convenzionale di Nizza, in cui la descrizione della vita della località turistica, della Nizza borghese, viene accostata alla "controparte" popolare. Vista la durata del film - 25 minuti - ho deciso di creare due differenti colonne sonore. La prima è di natura acustica e nasce dalla suggestione delle immagini, spesso in bilico tra linguaggio documentaristico e sperimentalismo. Queste composizioni sono state registrate nel 2004 grazie alla complicità di un sestetto di amici musicisti. La seconda colonna sonora è elettronica e cerca di costruire una diversa relazione con le immagini. L’ho realizzata recuperando brani composti tra il 1985 e il 2002, per l’occasione tagliati, manipolati, assemblati e remixati. Questo lavoro, che nasce nel 2003 su commissione del Rimusicazioni Film Festival di Bolzano - concorso internazionale dedicato alla composizione di nuove colonne sonore per il cinema muto - non è mai stato distribuito, essendo stato concepito come cadeau per i partecipanti.
